EnneaRoles Practitioner Certification – Level 1 – Coaches & Therapists Version
What you'll learn
- Identify the motivational architecture and defensive patterns of all 9 Enneagram types in a coaching context
- Map how your client's personality supports or blocks each of the four domains of personal life (PAEI)
- Recognize which life stage your client is in — and what that stage demands from their personality
- Deliver a complete professional EnneaRoles debrief session using the goal-anchoring methodology
- Identify where a client's Enneagram type creates blind spots, limiting patterns, and derailment — not just strengths
- Apply the Narrowing technique to verify Enneagram type with a client
- Build a precision coaching plan tied to the client's real situation — not generic personality insights
- Recognize your own type-based biases as a coach or therapist — and work with them rather than against them
Overview
The world’s first assessment that maps your client’s personality architecture against the four domains of personal life — showing you not just who they are, but exactly where they’re stuck and why.
The EnneaRoles Practitioner Certification (Coaching & Therapy Edition) is a 9-week professional formation program designed for life coaches, therapists, and helping professionals who want a precision tool for understanding their clients at a depth no single assessment can match.
This program integrates two powerful frameworks: the Enneagram — the most sophisticated map of human motivation and defensive patterns — with the PAEI model applied to personal life, which maps how a person’s personality supports or blocks their functioning across the four essential domains of a healthy life: Producing (purpose and action), Administrating (structure and self-management), Entrepreneuring (vision and growth), and Integrating (relationships, love, and inner wholeness).
Most coaches and therapists already know that each client is different. What the Enneagram gives you is a precise map of why — nine distinct motivational architectures, each with its own defensive pattern, its own blind spots, and its own path to growth.
Knowing your client’s Enneagram type tells you what the limiting pattern is. The PAEI model applied to personal life tells you where that pattern is creating the most damage — and when, based on the life stage they’re in.
This is not just a self-guided online course. It combines asynchronous video modules with weekly live sessions, personal mentoring with the program creator, and a competency-based certification exam — all designed to ensure you are genuinely ready to work with real clients from day one.
Presented in collaboration with the Madanes Institute, this edition includes an exclusive 2-hour live Masterclass with Cloe Madanes — world-renowned innovator of strategic family therapy and trainer of over 15,000 life coaches worldwide — as the capstone of the program.

Why EnneaRoles — and why this certification
🧠 Two maps are better than one Most assessments give you either the internal picture (motivation, personality) or the external picture (behavior, role performance). EnneaRoles gives you both simultaneously — the Enneagram maps what drives your client from the inside, and the PAEI model shows where those drives support or sabotage their functioning in real life.
🔄 Your client isn’t broken — they’re in the wrong stage The PAEI model applied to personal life reveals that different life stages demand different role orientations. A person who thrives in one stage may struggle in the next — not because of pathology, but because their personality is built for a different season. This framework transforms how you see your clients’ challenges.
🎯 From insight to action — in every session Unlike assessments that generate self-awareness without direction, EnneaRoles connects personality directly to what the client needs to do differently — in their relationships, their work, their self-management, and their inner life. Every debrief ends with a precise, actionable coaching plan.
⭐ Closing Masterclass with Cloe Madanes Graduates of this pilot edition receive an exclusive 2-hour live masterclass with Cloe Madanes — world-renowned innovator of strategic therapy, founder of the Madanes Institute, and co-creator of the Robbins-Madanes Training Program.
How it works
Step 1 — Register & take your own assessment Upon enrolling, you take the EnneaRoles assessment yourself and receive a personal debrief session via Zoom. Experiencing the assessment as a client is a mandatory ethical requirement — and the most powerful foundation for everything that follows.
Step 2 — Complete the 9 online modules Work through the program at your own pace, 24/7. Video lessons, readings, handouts, and homework assignments covering the Enneagram, the PAEI roles, the 36 sub-competencies, report interpretation, and the complete debrief protocol.
Step 3 — Attend the weekly Practitioner Circle Every Wednesday, join Yechezkel live on Zoom for a 1-hour session: 30 minutes of conceptual reinforcement on a core topic, followed by 30 minutes of open Q&A and case discussion. Open to all students regardless of which module they are in.
Step 4 — Complete your 2 supervised practice sessions From Module 6 onward, invite 2 people to take the assessment using your practice licenses. Session 1 is mentored by Yechezkel — a step-by-step walkthrough of a real debrief. Session 2 is your certification exam: an independent, filmed debrief session with a real client.
Step 5 — Graduate Upon approval of your filmed session, receive your official Madanes School diploma, international practitioner license, 3 commercial assessment licenses, and access to the Certified Practitioners Platform. Then attend the exclusive closing Masterclass with Cloe Madanes.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the EnneaRoles assessment and what makes it different?
The EnneaRoles is the only assessment in the world that integrates two complementary frameworks: the Enneagram (an internal map of 9 personality types based on core motivation) and the PAEI model developed by Dr. Ichak Adizes (an external map of 4 organizational roles). Together, they show not just who you are, but how your personality architecture supports or blocks the specific roles your life demands. Unlike CliftonStrengths (which only shows the bright side), Hogan (which focuses exclusively on psychology), or MBTI (which maps cognitive preferences), EnneaRoles connects personality directly to role execution (both personal or professional) and performance goals.
Do I need prior experience with the Enneagram or the PAEI model?
No. The program is designed to take you from zero to certified practitioner. Module 1 introduces the full dual-framework from scratch. Prior experience with either system is welcome but not required.
Can I use the EnneaRoles assessment with my clients immediately after certifying?
Yes. Upon graduation you receive 3 full commercial assessment licenses — so you can begin working with paying clients immediately. Additional licenses are available for purchase through the Practitioners Platform.
How much time do I need each week?
The program is designed for approximately 2-3 hours of module work per week over 9 weeks, plus 1 hour for the Wednesday Practitioner Circle. Most participants find this very manageable alongside their professional commitments.
What is the Practitioner Circle and do I have to attend?
The Practitioner Circle is a weekly live session on Zoom — every Wednesday— open to all currently enrolled students. The first 30 minutes cover a core topic from the program. The second 30 minutes are open Q&A and case discussion. Attendance is strongly recommended but not mandatory. Sessions are not recorded to preserve the candid, open nature of the discussion.
What is the difference between the Standard and Premium tracks?
Both tracks include the full program, the Practitioner Circle, the mentored practice session, the certification exam, and the closing Masterclass with Cloe Madanes. The Premium track adds weekly individual 1:1 mentoring sessions with Yechezkel Madanes throughout the entire 9 weeks — for participants who want deeper personal accompaniment and faster development.
What exactly is the certification exam?
Your certification exam is a filmed, live debrief session with a real client — not a multiple-choice test. From Module 6 onward, you invite 2 people to take the EnneaRoles assessment using your practice licenses. Session 1 is a mentored walkthrough with Yechezkel. Session 2 is your exam: you deliver the debrief independently, film it with your client’s consent, and submit it for evaluation. If approved, you receive your certification.
What if my filmed session doesn't meet the standard?
Your certification exam is a filmed, live debrief session with a real client — not a multiple-choice test. From Module 6 onward, you invite 2 people to take the EnneaRoles assessment using your practice licenses. Session 1 is a mentored walkthrough with Yechezkel. Session 2 is your exam: you deliver the debrief independently, film it with your client’s consent, and submit it for evaluation. If approved, you receive your certification.
Can I get a refund after enrolling?
No. Because you receive immediate access to all program materials, the assessment platform, and your practice licenses upon enrollment, we are unable to offer refunds after purchase. We encourage you to review the full Program Outline and FAQ carefully before enrolling, and to contact us with any questions at support@madanesschool.com.
What technology do I need?
A computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet connection. All modules are available 24/7 through the learning platform. Video content includes transcripts and subtitles.
Can I share my login with colleagues so we can learn as a group?
No. Logins can only be used by enrolled participants. If you would like to learn as a group, please ask other members to enroll in the program.
How is this edition different from the standard L1 EnneaRoles Certification?
The standard L1 focuses on the PAEI model in organizational and leadership contexts — what roles does your client’s job require, and how does their personality support or block those roles. This Coaching & Therapy Edition applies the same dual-framework to personal life — mapping how a person’s Enneagram type supports or blocks their functioning across the four domains of a healthy personal life: purpose and action (P), structure and self-management (A), vision and growth (E), and relationships and inner wholeness (I). The Enneagram content is identical. The PAEI application and debrief methodology are adapted for coaching and therapeutic contexts.
I already use another assessment (MBTI, CliftonStrengths, etc.) — why would I add this?
Every major assessment captures part of the picture. MBTI maps cognitive preferences. CliftonStrengths maps talents. Hogan maps the bright side and the derailers. EnneaRoles does something none of them do: it shows how your client’s deep motivational architecture — their Enneagram type — amplifies or blocks their ability to function effectively across the four domains of personal life, at the specific life stage they’re in. It’s not a replacement. It’s the layer that makes everything else more precise.
Is this appropriate for licensed therapists as well as coaches?
Yes. The framework is deliberately positioned as a coaching tool — it does not diagnose pathology, does not replace clinical assessment, and does not operate in clinical or psychiatric territory. It is a personality and role mapping instrument that enhances whatever therapeutic or coaching approach you already use. Many licensed therapists find it enormously valuable precisely because it gives them a structured, non-pathologizing framework for understanding clients’ patterns.
Will this tool help me work with clients going through major life transitions?
Especially yes. The life stage dimension of this program — understanding which PAEI roles a given life stage demands, and how a client’s Enneagram type either supports or resists that demand — is one of the most powerful tools available for working with clients navigating career changes, relationship transitions, midlife questions, empty nest, retirement, and any other major life shift. This is the framework that lets you say to a client: “You’re not broken. Your personality was built for a different season — and here’s how we work with that.“
